About the Event

A bunch of people wanted Tetris back, so we're doing it! Puyo Puyo Tetris is one of the more interesting Tetris games to play, because it also gives players the options to play Puyo Pop instead of Tetris, but still compete head-to-head. We'll still run a Smash Ultimate tournament as always, but variety is the spice of life!

Our Smash Ultimate ruleset is simple:

-Double elimination

-Winner's bracket finalist has to be defeated twice by the loser's bracket finalist

-Matches are best two-out-of-three rounds. Rounds are three stocks with a seven minute time limit with items, smash meter, and spirits turned off.

-Mii Fighters of all builds are allowed.

-The first stage in the three-round match will be random Battlefield. After that, the loser of the previous round chooses what stage to fight on.

-Allowed stages are any Battlefield or Omega stage, along with Town and City, Pokemon Stadium 2, and Smashville.

-If both competitors agree on a different stage, others may be used.

Puyo Puyo Tetris ruleset:

-Double elimination

-Winner's bracket finalist has to be defeated twice by the loser's bracket finalist

-Matches are best two rounds out of three

-Players may choose to play either Puyo Puyo or Tetris, Swap will be disabled

-No character changes between rounds

-Default customization settings, unless both players agree to customization

-Handicap will be set to default

As always, controllers can be provided, but it is strongly recommended that you bring your own.  These rules are subject to change as suggestions are made.  Payouts will be in M&M Store Credit, to the tune of $10 to first and $5 to second for each tournament. Good luck, and have fun!
